Michelin introduces next-gen airless Tweel tire for skid steers with massive sturdiness enhancements
Michelin has launched the following technology of its airless tire for skid steers, saying that the brand new Tweel is extra rugged than its predecessors.
Designed to resist quite a lot of skid steer purposes, the brand new Michelin X Tweel SSL 2 12N16.5 will probably be out there in all-terrain (AT) and hard-surface (HST) fashions.
“The SSL 2 AT is designed to be used in 80 p.c of off-road purposes. The HST is constructed for work achieved on exhausting surfaces reminiscent of asphalt and pavement,” says Justin Brock, Michelin’s advertising and marketing supervisor for its building and Tweel phase in North America.
Key to the tire’s extra strong design is an embedded Eight-bolt hub that’s interlocked mechanically. Michelin says that is its first mechanically interlocked hub and replaces the chemical adhesion discovered within the first technology Tweel for skid steers.
The brand new tire options an improved shear beam building that maximizes the core lifetime of the tire, in addition to 10x larger spoke life. The tires assist a most load of 4,400 kilos.
The HST mannequin is constructed with a 48/32nd-inch tread depth with Eight/32nd-inch of undertread. The AT mannequin is constructed with a 31/32nd-inch tread depth with 12/32nd-inch of undertread. The outer core tread may be retreaded a number of instances for an efficient general price of possession, Michelin says.
